Full details
A scratch-art book: each page is coated black over a colour layer, and a wooden stylus scratches a line that comes up bright. The trace-along guides mean a child gets a recognisable result on the first attempt, which is what keeps them going. Scratch pages also give an immediate result, which holds a young child's attention far better than a pencil drawing that takes twenty minutes to look like anything.

Care & Use
Work over a sheet of newspaper — scratch coating comes away as fine black flakes and gets everywhere. A blunt stylus gives a wider line than a sharp one, which is worth knowing before starting a detailed page. Keep finished pages apart so the coating does not transfer.
