01GSM decides wet media

Below about 120 GSM, watercolour and marker buckle and bleed. Mixed media pads state a heavier weight for exactly this reason.

 02Acid-free matters only if you keep it

Acid-free paper stays white for years; ordinary paper yellows. For a sketchbook you intend to keep, it is the one specification worth paying for.

 03Spiral or hardbound changes how it lies

A spiral book lies flat and loses pages; a hardbound book survives a bag and fights the fold. Pick by where you will actually use it.
